  • About Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO) and Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO)
  • Our Trade Process
LSFO (Low-Sulfur Fuel Oil) and VLSFO (Very Low-Sulfur Fuel Oil) are types of marine fuels used to power ships while adhering to environmental regulations aimed at reducing sulfur oxide emissions. Here’s a brief explanation of each:

1). LSFO (Low-Sulfur Fuel Oil):

a). Sulfur Content:
Typically has a sulfur content of 0.5% or lower, meeting the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 2020 regulations which mandate that marine fuels used in international waters should not exceed 0.5% sulfur content.
b). Usage: Used as a marine fuel to comply with environmental regulations, particularly in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) where stricter sulfur limits apply.

2). VLSFO (Very Low-Sulfur Fuel Oil):

a). Sulfur Content:
Has an even lower sulfur content than LSFO, usually around 0.5% or less than 0.1%, making it compliant with IMO 2020 regulations.
b). Usage: Preferred in many cases for compliance with IMO 2020 because of its lower sulfur content, which reduces sulfur oxide emissions more effectively compared to LSFO.

The difference between LSFO and VLSFO largely lies in the sulfur content, with VLSFO generally having a stricter adherence to the 0.5% sulfur limit, ensuring greater compliance with the IMO 2020 regulations. Both fuels are part of the maritime industry's shift towards cleaner, more environmentally friendly fuel options.
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer's preference.

Here's what they entail:

1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.

2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.

3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.

4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller's vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
