What is Hydrated Lime (Calcium Hydroxide)?

Hydrated lime, also known as calcium hydroxide or slaked lime, is a chemical compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2. It is a white, powdery substance that is obtained by adding water to quicklime (calcium oxide) in a process called slaking.

Hydrated lime is commonly used in various industries and applications due to its versatile properties. Here are some of its uses:

1). Construction: Hydrated lime is used in the construction industry for various purposes. It is mixed with cement and sand to create mortar for masonry work, such as bricklaying and plastering. The addition of hydrated lime improves the workability, durability, and water-retention properties of mortar. It is also used as a soil stabilizer in road construction to improve the properties of the soil and enhance its load-bearing capacity.

2). Water and wastewater treatment: Hydrated lime is utilized in water and wastewater treatment processes. It is added to water to adjust the pH levels and neutralize acidic or alkaline conditions. It also aids in the removal of impurities, such as heavy metals and phosphates, by precipitation or chemical reactions.

3). Environmental applications: Hydrated lime is employed in various environmental applications. It is used in flue gas desulfurization systems to remove sulfur dioxide from exhaust gases emitted by power plants and industrial processes. Hydrated lime is also utilized in the treatment of acid mine drainage to neutralize the acidic water and reduce its harmful effects on the environment.

4). Agriculture: Hydrated lime is sometimes used in agriculture to adjust the pH levels of soil. It can help neutralize acidic soils, allowing for better nutrient availability to plants. Additionally, hydrated lime is used in the preparation of limewash, a traditional paint-like coating applied to the surfaces of buildings for protection and aesthetic purposes.

It is important to handle hydrated lime with care as it can be caustic and irritate the skin, eyes, and respiratory system. Proper safety precautions should be followed while using this chemical compound.
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer's preference.

Here's what they entail:

1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.

2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.

3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.

4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller's vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
