What is Soda Ash (Sodium Carbonate)?

Soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), is a white, crystalline powder that is commonly used in various industries and applications. It is produced through several processes, including the Solvay process, which is the most common method of manufacturing soda ash.

Soda ash has a wide range of uses, including:

1). Glass manufacturing: Soda ash is a key ingredient in the production of glass. It is used as a fluxing agent to lower the melting point of silica, the primary component of glass. This helps to facilitate the melting and shaping of glass during the manufacturing process.

2). Detergents and cleaning products: Soda ash is an essential ingredient in many detergents and cleaning products. It functions as a water softener, helping to remove mineral deposits and improve the cleaning efficiency of the products. It also contributes to the alkalinity of the detergent, which aids in the removal of greases, oils, and stains.

3). Water treatment: Soda ash is used in water treatment processes to adjust the pH levels and alkalinity of water. It helps in neutralizing acidic water and acts as a buffering agent to prevent rapid changes in pH.

4). pH regulator in various industries: Soda ash is utilized as a pH regulator in various industries, including the textile, pulp and paper, and chemical industries. It is used to adjust and control the acidity or alkalinity of solutions and processes.

5). Metallurgy: Soda ash finds applications in metallurgical processes, particularly in the extraction of metals such as copper and nickel from their ores. It is used as a flux to remove impurities and facilitate the separation of metals from their ores.

6). Food and beverage industry: In the food and beverage industry, soda ash is sometimes used as a food additive for specific purposes, such as adjusting the pH levels, as a leavening agent in baking, or as a source of carbonate ions in certain processes.

Soda ash is generally considered safe for use in these applications when used according to regulatory guidelines. However, it is important to handle and store soda ash properly, as it can be irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory system.
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer's preference.

Here's what they entail:

1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.

2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.

3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.

4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller's vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
