What is Guar Gum?

Guar gum is a natural polysaccharide extracted from the seeds of the guar plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba). It is commonly used as a thickening, stabilizing, and binding agent in various industries.

Here are some key points about guar gum:

1). Extraction and Composition: Guar gum is derived from the endosperm of guar seeds. The seeds are dehusked, milled, and screened to separate the endosperm, which is then ground into a fine powder. Guar gum primarily consists of long-chain galactomannan polysaccharides, composed of mannose and galactose units.

2). Thickening and Stabilizing Properties: Guar gum is known for its excellent water-holding and thickening capabilities. When dispersed in water, it forms a viscous gel that increases the viscosity of liquids. It is commonly used as a thickening agent in food products such as sauces, dressings, dairy products, and baked goods. Guar gum can also stabilize emulsions and prevent ingredient separation in products like salad dressings and ice creams.

3). Binding Agent: Guar gum acts as a binding agent, improving the texture and binding properties of food products. It is often used in gluten-free baking as a substitute for gluten, providing structure and elasticity to baked goods.

4). Water-Soluble and pH Stability: Guar gum is soluble in cold water and forms a stable gel even at low concentrations. It is effective across a wide pH range, providing stability and consistency in acidic, neutral, and alkaline formulations.

5). Applications: Guar gum finds applications in various industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and personal care. It is used in products such as sauces, dressings, soups, beverages, dairy products, dietary supplements, tablets, creams, lotions, and shampoos.

6). Dietary Fiber: Guar gum is considered a dietary fiber and can provide bulk to food products, contributing to a feeling of fullness and promoting healthy digestion. It is commonly used in high-fiber foods and dietary supplements.

7). Gluten-Free and Allergen-Free: Guar gum is naturally gluten-free, making it suitable for individuals with gluten intolerance or celiac disease. It is also free from common allergens such as wheat, soy, dairy, and nuts, making it a versatile ingredient in allergen-friendly formulations.

8). Safety and Regulations: Guar gum is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by regulatory authorities such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). However, like any food ingredient, individuals with specific allergies or sensitivities should exercise caution.

Guar gum is valued for its thickening, stabilizing, and binding properties in a wide range of applications. Its natural origin, versatility, and compatibility with various formulations have made it a popular ingredient in the food, pharmaceutical, and personal care industries.
Our trade process spreads across CIF, FOB, TTO, and TTT, depending on the buyer's preference.

Here's what they entail:

1). Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF): Here, the seller will handle everything from loading the vessel, paying for insurance, and sending the product to wherever the buyer wants it delivered.

2). Freight On Board (FOB): Here, the seller pays for the transportation of the goods to the port of shipment, plus loading costs, while the buyer pays the cost of marine freight transport, insurance, unloading, and transportation from the originating port to the final destination.

3). Tanker Take Over (TTO): Here, the buyer will take over the vessel, offload the product at their destination, and return it.

4). Tanker To Tanker (TTT): Here, the buyer uses their own vessel, long sides with the seller's vessel, and then the cargo is transshipped when the transaction is fully settled.
